For those of you unfamiliar with Lena’s work or experiencing it for the first time, the beautiful Lena Horne (Bedford-Stuyvesant, June 30, 1917 – New York, 9 May 2010) was an amazing singer and powerful actress and dancer.
She was the first Afro-American diva to sign a contract with a  Hollywood major and to achieve international fame. Winner of numerous Grammy Awards,  she was also a political activist, especially during the Sixties, participating in the battles for civil rights and against racial discrimination on the side of Martin Luther King jr. and Medgar Evers.

We have celebrated few weeks ago what would be her 96th birthday and now we would like to suggest you to watch the documentary “Blue Note: An Evening with Lena Horne”,  Saturday on Sky Arts2 at 11.40 pm.
