About Charles Rouse
This legendary musician began on clarinet and then evolved to the saxophone. The timbres and sonorous lyricism was perfect of a tenor saxophone is perfect for the nascent ‘hard bop’ style – at its peak during the 1950s and 1960s. His career was in full bloom during his decade-long collaboration with jazz wizard Thelonious Monk.
