ABOUT
Sammy Davis Jr. was born in New York City in 1925 where he lived with his father and began a career in vaudeville from a young age. After his service in the Second World War he resumed his career in entertainment performing stand up comedy, acting and recording music. During this time he was faced with many challenges due to racial segregation still practiced in many clubs across the USA. He is remembered for his performances as he is remembered for his work in the Civil Rights Movement. In 1960, he married Swedish Actress May Britt when interracial marriage was still banned in 31 states.
