About Count Basie
Count Basie is one of the greatest composer and arrangers of all time, an African-American forced to overcome the barriers presented by racial adversity. He resides in the jazz-composer pantheon with Duke Ellington, Neal Hefti and other 20th-Century titans.

A supremo of jazz and big band, his style is an evolution of the blues and early-jazz which takes into account then-recent instrumental innovations required to form the ‘swing band’. These standards are ingrained into the cornerstone of American big-band music, being frequently reinterpreted by many big bands across the world.
