Starr and McCartney Reunite at Grammy Awards

Last night saw Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr reunite at the star studded Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles. The pair’s performance of Macca StarrMacca’s new single ‘Queenie Eye‘ was part of The Beatles 50th anniversary celebrations to landmark their performance on the Ed Sullivan Show. The performance was met by a warm reception from the A-list crowd including Yoko Ono.

McCartney picked up the award for ‘Best Rock Song’ on the night for his collaboration with Dave Grohl and former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic for their track ‘Cut Me Some Slack’, beating both The Rolling Stones and veteran hell-raisers Black Sabbath. Sabbath however did manage to pick up an award for ‘Best Metal Performance’ for their track ‘God Is Dead?’ as well as a nomination for their latest release ‘13‘.

It wasn’t only the rockers on show on the evening with the much coveted ‘Lifetime Achievement Awards’ going to Kris Kristofferson, The Isley Brothers, avant-garde synthpop group Kraftwerk and last but not least; The Beatles.

Mega-star Madonna took on a slightly different role on the night as she donned an all white outfit complete with cowboy hat and played pastor during rap/producer duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis‘ performance of their track ‘Same Love‘, covering the issues of marriage equality in America. During the performance 33 genuine couples were married live on stage with Madonna giving her blessing.
