About Ferlin Husky

Ferling Husky was born in 1925 in Missouri. Husky did not like going to school and dropped out in order to move to St. Louis and become a truck driver and steel mill worker whilst performing in Honky Tonks at night.
During the war, Husky also worked for the US Marines and entertained the troops on the merchant ships for 5 years. Once he had finished his service in the 1940’s, he became a disk jockey, eventually getting signed in 1953 to Capitol Records as a Honkey Tonk singer. Husky had an incredibly successful career, with a long string of No. 1 hits in the 1950s, until his retirement in 1977 due to heart problems which unfortunately caused his death in 2011.
