Thomas Wright “Fats” Waller was a famous pianist, organist, composer, singer, and comedic entertainer within the Jazz genre and was extremely influential to many. His innovative ideas mount to the Harlem stride style, which laid the groundwork for modern jazz piano.

ABOUT ‘Ain’t Misbehavin’’

The song ‘Ain’t Misbehavin’’ was written by Fats Waller, Andy Razaf and Harry Brooks. The original verson was recored for Victor Records in 1929 and performed in the 1943 film, Stormy Weather. The orginial verson also received the Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 1984, and it was one of fifty recordings selected for inclusion in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress in 2004. In 2001, it was one of 365 Songs of the Century selected by the RIAA. There were six other recordings released in 1929, including versions by Louis Armstrong, Ruth Etting, Gene Austin, and Leo Reisman and His Orchestra. Over the years, the track was recorded by many others such as, Billie Holiday, Eartha Kitt, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Nat King Cole and many others.
