About the Ohio Players Although it wasn’t until the 1970’s that the Ohio Players would become a household name the lineage of the band actually dates back as far as 1959. After undergoing a name change (from Ohio Untouchables) and multiple lineup changes they went on to enjoy a lengthy career in music remaining active until as late as 2002.

The Ohio Players achieved two U.S Billboard number one hits, ‘Fire’ and ‘Love Rollercoaster’. ‘Fire’ was also a number one album for the band in 1974.
