About James Last

Born Hans Last in Bremen, Germany (1929). James Last first started playing piano at the age of ten and starts learning bass at fourteen.
He rose to fame as a popular band leader and upright bass player in the fifties, while his big band compositions and arrangements helped him find further fame stateside in the sixties.
He is estimated to have sold over 70 million records worldwide and in the UK he had 52 hit albums between 1967 and 1986!
His work is varies from big band to working with disco pioneer Giorgio Moroder, he has also contributed music to the Tarantino film ‘Kill Bill’.
