The Prophets’ beginnings can be traced back to The Kings Men Quartet of St. Louis, Missouri, of which Ed Hill and Jerry “Jay” Berry were the founding members. The Kings Men Quartet were invited to the 1958 Quartet convention where Hill and Berry realized their desire of singing on a full-time basis; this resulted in them moving to Knoxville to form The Prophets in 1959.
